Why Was Griffith McNaughton Cadle Murdered? 

Police in Belize City are investigating a murder that occurred last night on St. Joseph Street. The victim has been identified as sixty-seven-year-old Griffith McNaughton Cadle. Reports indicate that Cadle was fatally stabbed.

Cadle was in the company of a man believed to be his killer. They were seen walking towards Baymen Avenue and then onto Nurse Seay Street when Cadle was stabbed.

Investigators found a knife believed to be the murder weapon at the scene.

One of Griffith’s neighbours described Cadle as a humble and mannerly man. She told News Five that she was shocked when she learned that Cadle had been murdered.

Police Investigate Murder of Elderly Man in Western Belize

Authorities are investigating the murder of Benito Cal, a 67-year-old man, in Roaring Creek Village, Cayo. According to police, the investigation commenced after officers responded to a report at the Roaring Creek Cemetery earlier today. Upon arrival, officers found the motionless body of Cal, bearing injuries to his face.

Cal was last seen around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, and was discovered lifeless at approximately 6:30 a.m. the following day.

The body was subsequently transported to the Western Regional Hospital, where Cal was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing.

Guatemalan Charged with Murder

Police officially arrested and charged thirty-year-old Guatemalan Victor Manuel Castellanos. He stands accused of the murder of Pedro Antonio Hernandez and aggravated assault against Amelia Hernandez. 

On Tuesday, Hernandez was murdered in his own yard after being lured outside by his assailant. Hernandez was chopped to death upon exiting his house.

 

Another Murder in Belize City 

Thirty-three-year-old Michael Usher was fatally shot on Monday night in Belize City. It happened a few minutes before eight o’clock on  Flamboyant Street. Investigators say that Usher was walking when he was approached by an unknown man who fired several shots in his direction. Usher was shot several times and pronounced dead on arrival.

According to reports, police are looking for two suspects.

Official Police Report of Police Officer’s Murder 

The Belize Police Department has released official details of the fatal shooting of twenty-nine-year-old Dylan Anthony, a resident of Camalote Village. The murder happened on the Roaring Creek bridge just before nine o’clock last night. Anthony was shot multiple times. Police say that Anthony “was travelling from an east-to-west direction towards Camalote Village when an unknown male assailant opened fire on him near the Roaring Creek Bridge. As a result, Anthony lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the pavement where he succumbed to his injuries.”

Reports suggest that it is a case of mistaken identity.

Murder in Belize City

Thirty-year-old Nigel Williams was shot and killed last night in Belize City. It happened near Dunn and St. Thomas streets at around eleven o’clock. Williams was in his Toyota 4Runner when a gunman approached him and fired several shots. Williams subsequently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a drain. He attempted to escape from the gunman on foot but collapsed moments later. Police are investigating.

Jamie Young Wanted for Murder

Police continue to search for Jamie Young, the man investigators say fatally shot thirty-year-old Damion Baptist. According to the official police report, officers were called out to an area near mile nine on the Philip Goldson Highway. At the scene, police found a red Ford Fusion crashed into a lamp post. They also observed bullet holes on the front passenger side.

Baptist was driving the car while twenty-nine-year-old Laneedrah Dawson, Young’s ex-girlfriend, was in the passenger seat. They were travelling from Ladyville Village towards Belize City when Young began following them in his grey Wingle. Between miles eight and nine on the highway, Young overtook them, halted his vehicle, and discharged multiple shots, injuring Baptist. An ambulance passing by rushed Baptist to the KHMH, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Belize City Youth Gunned Down 

Police in Belize City are investigating the shooting murder of twenty-six-year-old Liston Williams. Williams was shot several times on Saturday night in Belize City. Police say that at around 9:50 p.m., Williams was riding his motorcycle on Woodpecker Street when he was approached by the gunman, who fired several shots in his direction. Police are investigating.

Jared Ranguy Pleads Guilty to Murdering his Family 

Jared Ranguy pleaded guilty a short while ago to triple murder. Justice Nigel Pilgrim has reserved sentencing until after mitigation pleas are submitted. Ranguy pleaded guilty to the murders of his mother, sister, and stepfather in Ladyville in November of 2012. In court, the relatives of the deceased persons sobbed as Ranguy admitted that he killed the victims without provocation.

His guilty plea came after having gotten a sentence indication, meaning that he decided to plead guilty without going to a trial. News Five will have the full details, including an interview with the family, in our newscast live at 6.

Man Murdered in St. Margaret’s Village 

Luis Siapas was fatally chopped early this morning while at an establishment in St. Margaret’s Village in the Cayo District. According to witnesses, the victim was at La Rumba Restaurant and Bar when he was attacked by some men who chopped him in the head, face, throat, and hands.

The victim’s common-law-wife, Julisa Narajo, told News Five that before the deadly attack, Siapas was calm and happy. She said she was alerted to the attack by her neighbour. As to a suspected motive, she said, “At no point did he have any problem with the men who attacked him.” 

Police are investigating.
