Ebanks on murder allegations in Ecuador

Christian Ebanks

Following his arrest in May, it became known that he was listed as Ecuador’s most wanted in 2011 for a murder in the Guayas province. Ebanks confirms that there are allegations against him at his country of birth and explains why he changed his name in Belize.

Christian Ebanks, Charged for Firearm Offences

“There is an allegation in Ecuador of a said murder. My attorneys are dealing with that, have been dealing with that allegation. I can’t go into anything else with that, but it is an issue that is being dealt with. I don’t know how much more I can say, but that is an ongoing process.”

Duane Moody

“Are you an Ecuadoran?”

Christian Ebanks

“No, I’m a Belizean. I think a lot of people are misconstruing what….I have lived in Belize since I was eight months old; this is all I know. I was born in Ecuador, but my family has been in Belize since the 1950’s. I’m an Ebanks. Where they got the idea that I was an Ecuadoran is beyond me.”

Duane Moody

“They were saying that of course you were using a different name to cover up, things like that. Is it just a malicious act being done against you?”

Christian Ebanks

“I believe it to be so. Everybody that knows me knows that I’ve been using Floyd Ebanks for many years. Even when I came to Belize I used Floyd Ebanks. My problem stems when I have to do banking. My father has the same name; my son has the same name; my half brother has the same name. I have said that to everybody and that’s the reason why I changed my name. I do banking, I do business and stuff like that and there is a conflict where that comes into play, so I changed my name and I did it all legally; everything is there. There is nothing that is being hidden; there is nothing that was being done improperly…my whole documentations are on file for the world to see. There is no hidden anything. So I don’t know exactly why they would twist something like that when it is all legal process that was followed completely.”

There is more on the exclusive interview with Ebanks on Tuesday; he speaks on why he was visited by the U.S.

I think you should have asked him about the murder. He just sat there and spoke about himself and did not do anything regarding the loss of life. Your reporters should do better than this. It seems more like you guys were doing PR for him. Exclusive public relations for Christian ebanks.

The investigation in Ecuador is “ongoing,” his gun charge here is “ongoing,” he can’t give details on anything, so why is he even being interviewed? Is he looking for pity? Cause he’s not getting any here. What a coward to blame his wife of all people for his own crime. His track record obviously discredits him. He has done time in prison in the US and murdered in Ecuador. It’s a real shame they let him out on bail in the first place. It all just makes us wonder how far money will go to save him.
