Attorneys hound Trevor Vernon for payment

On Tuesday, Trevor Vernon made a bold statement when he delivered two pillow-cases full of shillings to the law firm of Barrow and Company. The payment, twenty-five hundred dollars, is half of the costs granted to Edmond Castro by Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin. As we said, it was a bold statement and good for some chuckles all around at the thought of the law firm having to lug two pillow cases full of shilling to the bank. But this evening, a Supreme Court Marshall and a representative from the law firm showed up at Vernon’s home in Burrell Boom to demand full payment, immediately. When that wasn’t forthcoming, the Marshall allegedly proceeded to mark off household appliances to the value of the balance of twenty-five hundred dollars. News Five understands that following the part payment in coins on Tuesday, Denys Barrow applied for a writ of execution for payment of costs. That writ was granted and today the Marshall marked off goods which will be auctioned off if payment is not forthcoming. Vernon has five days to come up with the balance of twenty-five hundred dollars.

That’s a damn shame! Other citizens wait years for this writ or order to be executed, even after the courts have passed judgment. Wasn’t he given a time to pay the court costs? These self-serving, egotistical, arrogant members of this UDP government has a lot to answer to. People won’t forget. The problem is that if they’re certain that they won’t be re-elected, they will pillage this country and leave it in an economic mess. We need to change the laws so that these politicians are held more accountable. Whatever they can’t prove that they got earnestly, you take it back from them and sell off. Imagine, Boots can’t even spell “danimoes” but has buildings. Castro has many businesses, Vega, Mark King. I remember when Castro was begging for and finally got a USAID (CASP) scholarship. I guess the two years he was in the US they taught him how to steal. Barrow’s kids all of a sudden are in high positions.

I keep saying. The high-rollers in this country have learned nothing from the Rodwell Williams saga. The Barrows, Youngs, Williams, and the UDP/NIP/South-side elite throw there weight around like Gods after screwing the country by legally raping it. There is a limit to this nonsense. The same monsters they have created on Belize City’s south-side will be their demise. The evolution of this kind of behaviour only ends in one sad way. There is a limit to the amount of arrogance people will tolerate. I guess it’s true what they say about the pig. You can take him out of the pig pen but you can’t take the pig out of him. Thanks for reminding of us that Denys.

This is really a shame. What they are doing is trying to set an example to all Belizean people not to challenge them or the illicit activities that they are doing or else. Keep your mouths shut and your eyes close. Don’t go against us!!!!!!!!

Da sin for the poor man. And after everything Mr. Vernon did for Belize in Washington. To be left holding the bag like that… Can’t mess with the Barrows, bwoy.

  7. CEO says:

    A dam shame!

Edmond Castro is a crook with the facts concerning poor judgment well documented.

If Belizeans do not stand up against this mess it will only get worse!

  8. patriot says:

A clear manipulation of the Justice system, shame on those who facilitate these abuse. Anytime the Barrows take a strong stand it’s always against the citizens of this country i.e. NCL, BSI, US Capitol, now Puerto Azul. These people seems to be the real enemy of Belize, they hate us, they fight us, they brutalize us, etc.

  9. Phillipa says:

That is a shame I personally know n and hear Magistrate from BMP court say once the person is paying you cant force them to pay more even if it not the amount that is awarded by the court but I guess for the Barrows that change. I had apply in Belmopan Court for a Writt & JDs already paid and for the pass two months cannot get my writt yet and imagine this man got his in less than a day. the court system work only for the UDP and their friends not for the every day citizens of this country.

  10. H@tari says:

Honest citizens have to pay up while Castro, Penner, and the rest of these corrupt politicians strut around acting like they own the world. Wake up people! We must take back our government or we will continue to slide right down the tubes. Forget about red or blue, do not vote for any of them. Lets get a third party in there.

  12. Citizen says:

This was intimidation tactic, but while they can intimidate one, they cannot do that to everyone. The want to scare everyone else from seeking justice!
