2 notable Belizeans laid to rest

Two notable Belizeans were laid to rest over the weekend. Former Minister of Government, Maxwell Samuels was eulogized by P.U.P. Party Leader, Francis Fonseca at a service in Willows Bank; his interment was in Burrell Boom on Sunday and attended by a large number of party supporters as well as family members. The other Belizean is Ambassador Adalbert Tucker, who was laid to rest this past Saturday. The Former Foreign Trade Ambassador passed away on April tenth in Jamaica where he was receiving treatment for prostate cancer. Tucker, who was an international development consultant, had graduate degrees from UWI and Harvard and was considered a patriot. He was given an official funeral which was attended by friends and government officials including Godwin Hulse, and the Governor General, Sir Colville Young among others. But as the family grieved, they were hit by another tragedy that occurred within twenty-four hours of Tucker’s burial. Tucker’s step son Andre, who is autistic, was hospitalized after his passing, and died on Saturday morning, just hours before he was laid to rest. This was followed on Sunday morning with the death of Tucker’s mother, Floretta. She was to celebrate her hundredth birthday this year, but also passed away in Jamaica.
