Repeat drug offender found guilty of possession

An elderly woman who made her way into the courtroom with the help of a walking stick was today charged with possession of a pipe.  She is sixty-four year old Marjorie Pitts, a resident of Belize City who is employed to clean streets. Pitts was transferred to court in a van after being busted on Wednesday with two metal pipes used to smoke drugs. When she appeared in court before Magistrate Dale Cayetano, she was read a single charge of possession of utensils; being two metal pipes, one measuring three inches, the other measuring four inches in length.  Allegations are that two police officers on foot patrol on Cemetery Road saw Pitts acting suspiciously near Taylors Alley. Pitts was asked to hand over an object she held in her hand, but she placed them on a stump.  As it turned out, they were pipes and she was arrested and charged. Pitts pleaded guilty this morning and was fined one hundred dollars to be paid by August thirty-first. This is not the first time she is before the courts. Pitts was recently released from the prison after serving time for a similar offense.
