A serious allegation of police brutality
Tonight, News Five has been able to confirm that San Ignacio Police are following up reports of an alleged police brutality in that district. Although it is only an allegation at this time, it is a disturbing and very serious one. We understand that just over a week ago, Police were called out to a domestic disturbance where two sisters were fighting. Both were detained and escorted to the San Ignacio Police Station. It is while the sisters were being escorted that there are allegations that they were beaten by two female police officers. And it gets worse – News Five understands that one of the detainees was pregnant, and is claiming that as a result of the beating she had a miscarriage and lost her baby. Like we said, it’s a very serious matter with major repercussions for the Police if the allegations prove true. Today when we contacted the San Ignacio Police Department, we were told that they are following it up and will have more information on Tuesday.
I too have been abused by the police and was smart and got the hell out of Belize.
Now I live in a Safe and Happy Country.
Been There and Done That . . . And Glad To Be Out
Let’s see if anything will come out of this. Police always think they can beat people up and get away with it. I am surprised that police are even bothering to investigate their own and hadn’t covered it up and “dealt with it internally.” The worst thing to encourage and culture is to have the keepers of the law, the ones who are supposed to protect the people, beating and killing them. Oh well, why does it matter right? The police and politicians are running the biggest gangster operation after all, everyone else is expendable.
