Man freed of firearm offenses
A Belize City man who police had charged for Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition was set free today in the court room of Magistrate Dale Cayetano. Police claimed that when they busted the house of thirty-two year old Kenroy Vanzie on January first 2013, they found a nine millimeter pistol and six live rounds of ammunition. In court, his attorney, Bryan Neal, was able to get Vanzie off the two serious offenses when he noted that after calling key witnesses, including the police, it was revealed that Vanzie was not even present at the house when the gun and firearm were discovered. In fact, Vanzie was in police custody at the time and furthermore, he did not live at the address where the firearm and ammo were found. After he was freed, Vanzie left the courtroom a happy man in the company of his family.
