U.S. Dep. Asst. Sec. for the Caribbean and Central America to visit Belize
And there is another official visit to report, though not as high profile. The United States Embassy is announcing the visit of a senior government official. He is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Caribbean and Central America in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. Francisco Palmieri will be in Belize for two days and will be meeting with government officials, civil society, security and representatives from the education and culture sectors. Palmieri engagements include a book donation to the Belize National Library and Information Service on Thursday and on Friday; he will be San Ignacio for a meeting with Neighbourhood Watch and Community Policing Officers. He will then move on to Xunantunich for a forty-minute tour of the archaeological site. The embassy also says that Palmieri is the highest-ranking Department of State visitor to Belize since former Under Secretary Maria Otero’s visit in early 2012.
