Senator Mark Lizarraga gets fiery in the senate

Mark Lizarraga

As we mentioned earlier in our newscast, the Senate met today in regular session following the Budget Debate on Monday and Tuesday. News Five wasn’t there long, but while we were we couldn’t miss private sector Senator lashing out at government with both fists, no velvet gloves in sight. According to Lizarraga, G.O.B. is deceiving the Belizean public, our debt is higher than it has ever been, and there is no light at the end of the tunnel…at least none that he can see.

Mark Lizarraga, Private Sector Senator

“This government Mister President entertains us and entertains the naive with tales of myths, of floating boats, trains bound for glory to palaces built for gods, of trips to the heavens and the stars. Perhaps these trips Mister President are for the vanguard of those in political glory and political grace, but the reality Mister President for the forty percent of Belizeans living in poverty is different. The reality for the thousands of young men and women in the country is different. The reality for thousands just coming out of school is different. The reality for thousands seeking jobs is different. The reality for the thousands of single mothers struggling to feed their kids each and every day is different and the reality for the hundreds of businesses that have closed down is different. We hear of government’s big-heartedness. Well Mister President, munificence is easy when you are spending other people’s money. We say Mister President, if the government truly wishes to impress, then manage honestly. We say if the government truly wishes to impress, Mister President, do away with nepotism and party politics. We say if the government truly wishes to impress, allow yourselves to be scrutinized as is your constitutional obligation and promise. Fulfil the commitments that you signed in 2010 with the O.A.S. Inter-American Convention against corruption; that will truly impress—not only us, but it will impress the O.A.S. that you lied to. If the government truly wishes to impress, stop the scandal after scandal after scandal; that would impress.”

  3. Ali BaBarrow protects his 40 says:

Nice start before going in the ring.

    Both fists to draw blood:

The Left–> formal senate motion for Hulse’s expulsion from the senate and his criminal indictment

The Right–> formal senate motion indicting Ali of high crimes against Belize.

Mop up by stomping out the rats’ nest. Put their heads on pikes.
Halifax gibbet for senile sedi, Penner, contrerass, heredia, and the other forty, along with their parasites co-conspirators. Public trial. As Ali said, let justice run its course.

  4. Joe Blank says:

True to a large extent. We are paying the price for shameless populism over the years. Whatever any fool chooses to believe, nothing is free. Someone has to pick up the bill. And it’s those of us who bother to pay taxes, the nation’s tax-base. So, hey we are going to pick up the tab for the “pro poor” policies, the shameless stealing… The romantic notion that we are each individually in the hole for $7,000 a head is just that. Those of us who pay taxes are the ones who will get screwed.
