2014 Preschool Festival of Arts

Leroy Green

The 2014 preschool festival of arts opened on Monday at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts. Hundreds of preschoolers from Belize District are performing in dance, music and drama for the rest of the week. National Coordinator for Expressive Arts, Leroy Green told News Five on Monday that the event is a prelude to the primary schools festival.

“Every year we have three festivals and this morning you are witnessing the commencement of the 2014 Belize District Preschool Festival of Arts. Why point out that it is the Belize District because it is happening all over the country; not just in Belize District. We are celebrating under the theme, “Small Bodies, Big Talents; Expressing ourselves.” And that is exactly what is going to be happening here on stage this morning and for the rest of the week. We are going to have the tiny tots—three and four year olds—they will be expressing their skills in drama, dance and music. The art exhibition is at different schools; we do have some art displayed here, but it is art by the facilitator who teaches the teachers art; he has some pieces here on display this morning. The actual performances will commence this evening at six-thirty and continue up until Friday at six-thirty. The rural schools will be performing at ten o’clock on Saturday morning. We are charging a minimal fee of three dollars for adults and two dollars for children and that is to pay the cost of the festival.”
