Belizean murdered in Chicago

The Chicago Tribune is reporting today that a Belizean was murdered in Chicago on Wednesday. Michael Tingling was protecting his fifteen year old daughter, Masharah, when he was punched on the chest. He died shortly afterwards. The report is that Joseph Firek, a man on parole for residential burglary has been charged with murder and a hate crime because he made racial remarks as he attacked Tingling. The murder occurred after the Belizean picked up his daughter from the Chicago Math and Science Academy and were both heading to a doctor’s appointment. Firek reportedly made inappropriate gestures and Masharah while hurling racist remarks at Tingling. A fight erupted between the two men and an indentified man separated the two but Firek continued to pursue Tingling. Tingling, who uses a pacemaker was rushed to the hospital where he died shortly afterwards.  Tingling moved to the U.S. about fifteen years ago.  Here is that story.
