Butane gas prices up again

Butane prices are up once again. The Belize Bureau of Standards has approved the increase effective Thursday. The new controlled price for liquid petroleum gas (LPG) depends on the supplier. Butane imported by Belize Gas Limited and Western Gas Company Limited from PEMEX in Mexico will see a one-dollar increase across the board in every district for a hundred pound cylinder of the LPG. For those who purchase from Belize Western Energy Limited, Southern Choice Butane or Zeta Gas and Gas Tomza Limited, there is an additional two dollars to be paid for butane. So for consumers in Belize City, the price went up from one hundred and twenty-six dollars to one hundred and twenty-eight dollars per hundred pound cylinder. But the highest cost will be felt in Punta Gorda where butane is now retailing at a hundred and thirty-three dollars.
