Cabinet discuss resignation of the Esquivels

As we reported last night, the U.D.P. is rocking from the resignation from the two time former prime minister and party leader of the United Democratic Party, Manuel Esquivel. His abrupt resignation last week on Thursday, as advisor, was followed by that of his wife Kathy as chair of the National Aids Commission. The Esquivels would not confirm but it is widely believed that their departure from senior government posts has everything to do with the ouster of Laura Esquivel-Frampton as Director of Tourism from the Belize Tourism Board. That happened when the Prime Minister was in St. Vincent and the Grenadines at a CARICOM intercessional meeting and from what we know, it was expected at least by the Esquivels that the Prime Minister would have intervened to protect Laura. It didn’t happen because the PM Barrow stood by the Minister of Tourism, Manuel Heredia Junior. Over the weekend, there was no rapprochement between the sitting prime minister and his predecessor. Now from what we know, the resignation of the Esquivels was discussed extensively in cabinet today, and it is expected that he will be formally acknowledged for his work with the U.D.P. over the years. But as far as the Esquivels returning to government work; that is not in the cards. The acknowledgement will be done through correspondence.

Poetic justice in action. Manny is feeling what the workers felt when he fired all 900 of them during his administration. How the wheels of justice turn!

  3. CEO says:

If he resigned because his daughter was not doing a good job and someone called her out on it, this would be childish. I am assuming and hoping it had to do more!

Please do yourself a favour and pay an six or eight grader to teach you how to write. Although you are a bigot and quite funny,it I’d hard to read what you write. If I were you, I would stay away from these blogs until you have learned to write.

I think that was extremely “Childish” for Mr. Esquivel and his wife to quit!! If their daughter was not performing productively they reserve “The RIGHT TO LET HER GO”!! Just because she is a former p.m daughter does NOT mean she is best suited for a position! It is almost as though they are throwing temper tantrum’s, again ;CHILDISH”!! Any other citizen or employee would be let go for unsatisfactory duties, and she should be held with the same regard!. . And as far as the mother and father quiting ,I am sure their are other’s in Belize that are just as passionate about the various causes, SEEK THEM. Sometimes we forget Out with the old and in with the new is not a bad thing. Change is good; Life is about growth and change. Their resignation might be a blessing, maybe new refreshed minds added to the party are in ordeR!!!

LOL @Rod maybe you should learn how to write or stay away from the blogs as well, you have misspelled words in your post also! The P.M isn’t too racist, 90% of the people in prison and on remand are Black; so go sit down!! I’ve done research and most of the former P.M’s were thieves or their hands were plain ole dirty. Why shouldn’t he hire a black? You and other’s who think negative like you are the one’s who are bigots & racist. That Is unfortunate ;but it is what it is… Carry on P.m Barrow
