Supt. Dezerie Phillips, Woman of the Year

Senior Superintendent Dezerie Phillips has been named Belize’s Woman of the Year 2014.  Phillips becomes the fifth woman selected by the United States Embassy for the prestigious title.  She joined the Belize Police Department in December 1985 and ascended in rank to her current post.  Phillips is one of two Deputy Officers in charge of the Eastern Division Precinct, the largest branch within the department.  Her passion is community engagement and empowerment.  Phillips joins the ranks of Sonia Lenares, Beverly Small, Rita Coleman and Sylvia Flores who were chosen for their involvement in education, youth development, women’s advancement, human rights, community service and government.  She will be honored at an award ceremony to be hosted by the U.S. Charge d’Affaires.
