Delroy Cuthkelvin accuses U.D.P. of fixing convention

Delroy Cuthkelvin

In political news, the U.D.P. is getting set to finish its round of constituency conventions, but not without party feathers being ruffled along the way. On Sunday, longtime U.D.P. operative Delroy Cutkelvin will go up against former U.D.P. Minister Melvin Hulse for caretaker rights in the Stann Creek West division. But there is trouble brewing. News Five has obtained a copy of a letter sent to U.D.P. Secretary-General Pearl Stuart from the Committee to Elect Delroy Cutkelvin. In that letter, the committee expresses its disapproval with the arbitrary decision to disallow nine hundred voters in what they say is contradictorily being called an open convention. According to Cutkelvin, that move was made behind his back, and he has been denied a look at the entire list. He calls that unacceptable, and demands an urgent reconvening of the parties to resolve the matter. And then the letter ends on a fiery note, expressing, “strongest disapproval of these measures by officials of the party clearly intended to prejudice the outcome of the convention in favor of one candidate.” The letter states that if there is no urgent resolution, necessary action will be taken to defend the interest of our candidate and campaign committee. Cutkelvin’s opponent, Melvin Hulse, was defeated by P.U.P. Stann Creek West Area Representative Rodwell Ferguson in 2012.

  1. Natty Dread says:

The Chairman of our public utility Belize Water Services Ltd., Alberto August, put hoof in his mouth this week on the UDP Radio scandal show. Speaking on who will win in the the Stann Creek West convention, the burly ex police constable stated that Delroy Cutkelvin and Alex Romero are kids whose time will come later. Most people took that to mean the convention has been rigged to give the win to “Flipping”. But the exposure of this letter may now cause the UDP to reverse course?

  2. dats just gud says:

when will these arrogant people learn to keep their in-house fighting a secret. PUP need to teach them. They are surely giving away the elections or maybe they don’t want to win.

Sad, because at least it seems that they had a strong hold on the economy and some sort of works was getting done.

    PUP all the way then………………….

  3. SC West voter says:

you see this is exactly how the UDP operates. You are experiencing it first hand. its not strange that they do this to their own people, what about others who does not belong to their party. Its even worst. Corruption within its own party. Time to go now. call election and get it down with it. People are ready. You cant brain wash them anymore.
