Ontario resident perishes in fatal accident in Camalote

Traffic accidents are among the leading causes of death, and unfortunately an Ontario family is grieving the loss of a loved one. A third fatality occurred on Sunday, involving a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle in Camalote Village. At around five o’clock that morning twenty-two year old Jose Martinez, a resident of Ontario Village, was riding along the George Price Highway when he was hit by an Isuzu Rodeo traveling in the opposite direction.  According to the driver of the vehicle, fifty-three-year-old Anthony Polonio, he was heading towards Belmopan, when, upon reaching mile fifty, he observed a red motorcycle coming in his direction.  The collision resulted in Martinez sustaining massive head and body injuries.  He died on impact.  Martinez’s body was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where it awaits an autopsy.  While a police investigation remains ongoing, Polonio is yet to be served with a notice of intended prosecution.
