2 immigration officers reprimanded by Services Commission

On February nineteenth, three public officers appeared before the Services Commission after Director of Immigration, Maria Marin, recommended their termination. The officers – Sharon Neal, Omar Phillips and Erwin Robinson, were fingered in a passport section internal investigation into the Won Hong Kim passport scandal. The Commission had ninety days to pass judgment, but in the end they needed only two weeks. News Five has confirmed that at least two of the officers received their letters on Friday. It wasn’t exactly what Director Maria Marin had in mind, as Omar Phillips and Erwin Robinson have received only a written reprimand for what have been termed minor procedural errors. Phillips has been immediately transferred to the Ministry of Health, while Robinson has been transferred to the Ministry of Natural Resources. Both men, who were on half-salary since September, will be reimbursed all monies due to them. So what’s the word on their senior officer, Sharon Neal? Unconfirmed reports are that she has been reinstated at the Immigration Department. We stress that it is unconfirmed – we spoke to Neal’s attorney late this evening and she told us that she is not aware of any response from the Commission where her client is concerned.
