Cop stabbed eighteen times remains hospitalized
Twenty-five year old police constable Abimael Romero remains hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times in Orange Walk on Sunday morning. The officer was reportedly in town visiting with his in-laws when he was attacked by a group of men while walking along Asuncion Street. He was stabbed as many as eighteen times to various parts of the body and was believed to have been pursued by the men inside a vehicle. Despite giving a statement to police, the injured officer cannot identify his attackers, compounding the work of his colleagues in bringing the men to justice. Romero, despite being under the influence during the vicious attack, alleges that he was robbed of a knapsack, as well as a cell phone. Orange Walk police are tonight no closer to making an arrest.
So why did Belizeans have to register their phone if this information will not be used to track phones or look out for these phones stolen especially in horrendous crimes like these?
