George Street gang members injured in shooting incident

While police are investigating Tarique Cadle’s murder, the two Belize City gang affiliates of George Street who were shot on Tuesday night remain hospitalized. Twenty-five year old Kariq Tzul of West Street and twenty-seven year old Andrew Tate from George Street were sitting on the steps of house inside a yard at the Corner of West Canal and King Street when a lone gun man dressed in a white T- shirt came towards them from the direction of George Street. The gunman unleashed a barrage of bullets their way, a total of fifteen. Tzul was shot twice to the left upper leg and admitted in a stable condition at the K.H.M.H. Tate received shots to both arms, both legs, to the left side of his abdomen and just below the stomach and is in a critical condition. Officer Commanding Precinct One of the Belize City Police Department, Superintendent Alden Dawson, says that the shooting was triggered by a misunderstanding on Tuesday evening between George Street and Supal Street gang members.

Supt. Alden Dawson, O.C, Precinct One, Belize City Police

“Upon arrival at that location, they learned that two persons had been shot—one Kariq Tzul and one Andrew Tate. The investigation revealed at that point that a single gunman came walking from the direction of King Street and opened fire at the two young men sitting on the stage at that location. The police retrieve fifteen expended nine millimeter shells and both persons were hospitalized.”

“Do you know their condition at this time? And what is believed to have led to that shooting?”

Supt. Alden Dawson

“The condition of the two victims at this time, they are both stable at the K.H.M.H. and we believe that an incident that triggered that situation last night was something that happened at the Fish market, the Conch Shell Bay Area earlier the said evening between the two rival gangs.”

As was said earlier, one person, Jason Williams, is currently in custody for the shooting.
