P.M.: Cabinet shuffle coming … soon

Story PictureFive weeks after his party suffered a blistering defeat at the municipal polls, today Prime Minister Said Musa confirmed rumours out of Belmopan of an impending Cabinet shuffle. This afternoon Musa told the press that he will make changes in the executive, because with a shift in policies must come a change in administrative methods. So when can the nation expect the announcement? The P.M. would only say … soon.

Prime Minister Said Musa
?I am looking at the whole picture, yes. Imminent, I don?t know if that?s proper word to use, but it would be true to say that I think the people voted for some kind of change in direction on the part of government and I don?t think it?s enough to have a change in policies, as we are doing, but maybe there?s also a need for us to see how people fit into the particular ministry that they can perform best. And so I?m examining all that.?

Janelle Chanona, Reporting
?Will that be a downsize or will you be bringing in new people??

Prime Minister Said Musa
?I haven?t decided on that yet.?

Jules Vasquez, 7 News
?Sir, but it?s been seven weeks. Is your inaction an indication of indecision and in fact indecision as they say is worse than wrong decision.?

Prime Minister Said Musa
?No, it?s a case of wanting to ensure that I give it due consideration, that I pray over it, and make the right decision.?

Jules Vasquez, 7 News
?Might that include the removal of Ralph Fonseca or a downsizing of Ralph Fonseca. It is widely perceived, though not proved by any empirical evidence that he is the reason that people voted against the P.U.P., the policies that he endorsed, which have the government behind the eight-ball right now financially, so to speak.?

Prime Minister Said Musa
?Well that may well be the position of Channel 7. I?m not sure how widespread that is, but what I can tell you is I haven?t made any final decision about any particular minister.?
