PM says there is a recording involving Castro made by Minister King

Dean Barrow

All sittings are generally ‘special’ in nature, and this one was no exception. It offered a little good, some bad and more than the usual ugly. There’s a whole lot to get into tonight, including a nasty exchange of words between members. But first we go to the man of the hour, Edmond Castro. He’s been getting plenty of negative attention, but apparently it wasn’t enough. Now, he is at the center of another mess. News Five has been able to confirm that on Friday night Castro, Mark King and a former U.D.P. official were engaged in an informal, and what should have been private, discussion. That conversation allegedly touched on issues including Castro’s role in the Immigration and BAA scandals and whether or not Castro would be attending today’s House meeting since Elvin Penner now sits alone in the House and Minister Michael Finnegan is away for surgery. Like we said, the conversation should have been private, but Minister of State Mark King recorded it and delivered it to the PM. Not surprisingly, that recording has resulted in even greater tension between Castro and his political boss.  Today the PM acknowledged the recording, but would not provide further details.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I may be able to say but I won’t.”

“Is it, did Edmond Castro impeach himself for irregular behavior in government or did he speak against you as prime minister or how you’ve handled him in government?”

Dean Barrow

“May I repeat what I just said, I won’t tell you what the contents of the recording are. I consider it an internal U.D.P. matter and I will leave it there.”

“But do they involve impeachable acts in public light?”

Dean Barrow

“You will not be able to say about me as you’ve said about my esteemed mayor; that he blew his top or lost his cool. All I will do sir and I will repeat it all afternoon, if you oblige me to, is to say I will not share the contents of that recording with you or the media. I will not comment on the contents of that recording. You would notice that I am a honest fellow and I confessed to having such a recording in my possession. My duty stops here. My duty stops here.”

“If you are the guarding of public affairs and they are impeachable…but there is a public duty to uphold.”

Dean Barrow

“Well I will tell you this. I will not countenance any breach of public duty. You are such a wildly and resourceful fellow, you got more out of me than I was prepared to give at the start. Will you not rest on your laurels now sir?”

“Honorable King has been cautioned before for recording the chairman of the party in another matter when he wasn’t even a candidate. He had recorded the chairman of the party when they didn’t allow him to run. He admitted it and he said that he wouldn’t record anymore. I had interviewed him about that.”

Dean Barrow

“Well then maybe you should take it up further with him.”

  1. Joe Blank says:

Castro is a crook and King is a gial. These people are some real pappy sho! Somebody pass the popcorn.

  2. Ali BaBarrow, king of Belizean thieves says:

“I will not countenance any breach of public duty. ”
As PM, what are the odds he will prosecute those who guard him, his precious forty?

This is the part of the movie when space aliens dressed as lawyers land in Belize in search of Belikin and the Sergeant at Arms to help locate honorable minister Edmond Castro.

In the next episode we switch from sci-fi to slap stick comedy full of fun booty calls, like the flying squirrel screech. Just gets the women giggling and putting out. And if any gay Belizean man ever learns that booty call, real men in Belize will be no more.
