Uncle arraigned for attempted murder of his nephew

Frank Garcia

Also appearing in court was a man who was remanded to prison this morning after he was charged for attacking his own nephew on January twelfth.  He is fifty-four year old Frank Garcia, of Oleander Street in the Saint Martin’s de Porres area. Garcia appeared unrepresented before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith and was arraigned for Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm with a Deadly Instrument, a machete and Use of Deadly Means of Harm Upon twenty-three year old Sherwin Garcia Junior.  No plea was taken and Garcia was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March, 2014.  Allegations are that Garcia chopped his twenty-three year old nephew, Sherwin on the face as he rode a bicycle on Oleander Street. Sherwin had to be hospitalized for the injuries; no motive has been established for the chopping.
