The story of a Belizean hoping to represent Belize in the Commonwealth Games

Joel Hodgson

In tonight’s newscast, we feature Belizean Joel Hodgson, who left Belize at the tender age of four when he was adopted by a Scottish couple living in Belize at the time. Hodgson was taken to live in Glasgow, Scotland. Recently, he caught the attention of BBC Sports because of his inspiring story. Homeless and selling magazines, Hodgson built up his life and is currently training in hopes to represent Belize in the four hundred meter track and field competition for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He shared his ups and downs in the following video.

It is not known if Hodgson will get to represent Belize, but the Belize Athletics Association says that he will play some role in the contingent to the Commonwealth Games.
