2 Honduran nationals guilty of illegally entering Belize

Jonnie Cabellero

In news from the courts, two Hondurans caught living unlawfully in Belize were today charged with illegal entry and ordered to pay one thousand dollars each. But tonight, the men are behind bars after not being able to pay the fine. Twenty-five-year-old Jonnie Cabellero and twenty-year-old Neris Reyes, wasted no time and pleaded guilty to the charge when they appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano this afternoon.

For that guilty plea they were deemed prohibited immigrants and a request for their immediate removal from the country was upheld. But before Cabellero and Reyes are sent back to their native country, both men have to first pay the court a one thousand dollar fine for their illegal entry into Belize. The men were unable to pay the fine and Magistrate Cayetano sentenced them to six months in prison.  After serving time, both Reyes and Cabellero will be deported.
