Taiwanese embassy hosts annual end of year luncheon

The Taiwanese Embassy today hosted its annual end of year Christmas luncheon with its partners in tourism to express its appreciation to the good relations with stakeholders. Although both countries are miles apart in culture, size and economy, there are some similarities in the tourism product. According to Ambassador of Taiwan to Belize, David Wu, Belize has all the attributes and natural resources to attract tourists worldwide and the Taiwanese Embassy is willing to share its own experiences to enhance the country’s tourism industry.

“We want to thank the partners that collaborate with my embassy for this year. But we just had a technology transfer of agriculture so today the theme that we focused on is tourism because we know that tourism and agriculture are two very crucial industries in this country. And today, not only from my embassy, we also invite the president of B.T.I.A., Mister Herbert Haylock and also an official of tourism, Mister Abil from B.T.B.—both of them have been to Taiwan and we also asked them to share their experience in Taiwan on the field of tourism. From a point of view that Belize is really a wonderful country that is full of natural wonders and you have historical heritage. But today now, we shared how we did in Taiwan to promote tourism. It is work and needs to be collaborated by government, the private sector, by the N.G.O.s and every citizen to show your difference, hospital and to show how attractive this country could be to the tourists that’s coming from oversees. In the past three and a half years, I’ve noticed that your country has everything to attract tourists from oversees, but you have to integrate them to make the better use of all these natural resources and human resources to put together to attract the tourists.”

Also present at the event was B.T.I.A. President, Herbert Haylock and Chief Tourism Officer, Abil Castaneda.
