Twelve year old dies under mysterious circumstances
Tonight there are many more questions than answers in the tragic death of a student from Independence in southern Belize. Twelve year old Sabrina Almendarez was discovered by her father in her bedroom at around four-thirty Friday morning, foaming from the mouth and bleeding from the nose. She was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. The sudden, bizarre death of a child who was a sports enthusiast and star softball pitcher has left her grieving family searching for the cause of death. Reports are that Sabrina received a tetanus shot on November twenty-second as part of an ongoing Ministry of Health initiative. Her family claims that all of last week she had been complaining of headaches and later in the week developed a fever. And none of the family members could have predicted that the always healthy twelve year old would have died so suddenly. In trying to find answers, News Five understands that the family has received medical advice which suggests that the symptoms displayed by the young girl before her death could be an adverse reaction to the tetanus shot. We also understand that the family has been trying to hire an independent pathologist to conduct the post-mortem examination, but the Police have informed them that they will have to use Doctor Mario Estradabran, who will perform the autopsy on Tuesday. And in another twist, we have been informed that the medical file of Sabrina Almendarez has gone missing from the polyclinic. As we told you, there are more questions than answers, and hopefully some of those will be dealt with by the post-mortem examination scheduled for Tuesday. The family says that they were visited by Ministry of Health personnel the day after Sabrina’s death. When we called the ministry of health for comment, but we were told that they will hold until the results of a post mortem are known.
It gets to the state where you are horrified to go to any hospital. For anything. And all everyone does is try to cover up instead of coming clean, and trying to find out what went wrong and where, and make sure it never happens to another innocent child. My sympathies to this family.
Another cover-up? This is bad! Where is her medical file?
