A gospel concert at the Bliss

Andrew "Reality Youth" Pitterson

Fire and Brimstone will be raining down on Belize this weekend, but in a good way. That’s the name of a gospel concert featuring artists and church groups from all over the country. They’ll be converging on the Institute of Culture for a one night affair of positive music, inspirational performances and fellowship. Organizer Andrew Pitterson, popularly known as Reality Youth, says that now more than ever Belize needs a positive message and positive recreation, and this weekend the Fire and Brimstone Concert is the place to be.

Andrew Pitterson, Reality Youth

“I realized that a lot of young people look up to me as a role model when it comes to positive music…and when they see me in the streets some of them say Jah Youth…some of them say Fireman…but I realize that the message that I bring from God is reality and I realize that my message actually targets the youth of this generation, reaching them…so I said let me come up with a name Reality Youth because I realize that the message is reality and it’s the youths I’m focusing on believing that God will touch them through my music through the gift he’s given me and draw them closer to Christ in the time that we’re in. We want everyone to come out and let’s just have a good time lifting up the name of Jesus and exalting his name all across the nation of Belize. I have many artists that will be there performing. I have a church all the way from Pomona…Community Christian Church. They also will come down all the way from Stann Creek to the Bliss to be a part of the concert. We also have another church from Burrell Boom…they’re also going to be there and another church from mahogany Heights, it’s a Spanish church. They’re also going to be there. Then we also have an African church and a Garifuna church so it’s like a little mix culture as well in the concert. Then we have poems, we have comedy, we have dancing, we have reggae gospel, we have hip-hop gospel, we have country and western, we have praise and worship. It’s a whole package so we’re asking everybody to just come out and bring your family and let’s have a fun time worshipping God in spirit and in truth.”

The concert kicks off at the Institute of Creative Arts at six pm on Saturday, October fifth.
