Deputy Mayor, Eric Chang, does not return to Jewel as scheduled

Eric Chang

Turning to the unremitting passport scandal…. Deputy Mayor Eric Chang, who has been away in Taiwan since early September, was expected to return to Belize today. A scheduled meeting was pending with Mayor Darrell Bradley to discuss Chang’s alleged involvement in the conveyance of a fraudulent Belizean passport to Kim Wonhong, but that was aborted because the councilor was a no-show.  Anticipating his arrival on this morning’s American Airline flight from the United States, members of the media camped out at the Phillip Goldson International Airport prior to its scheduled touchdown.  An hour later, when all passengers had disembarked the aircraft and had been processed through customs and immigration we were still waiting.  A subsequent check of all incoming flight manifests certified that Chang was not homeward bound.  It is not known when he will be returning to Belize to address his purported role in the scandal.  On Wednesday, Prime Minister Barrow went on record to say that there isn’t any concrete evidence to implicate Chang in any wrongdoing.  He went on to say that what has been reported thus far is all hearsay. But sources close to News Five say that while in Taipei, Chang attempted to visit with Kim Wonhong; the objective of that encounter is still not confirmed.

enjoy your vacation Eric, no hurry to get back to Belize.
give it time. People will forget what happened.
That might be the best time.
Barrow might be back in private law if he is not in jail, you might need a lawyer.
He says you are innocent, you want your lawyer to say that about you.
UDP will give you the signal when it is ok to come back.
Kim could use some company, learn some new booty calls.

  5. Refinery says:

Maybe we got lucky and he was nabbed by American Authorities.

  6. GrigaMan says:

Perhaps the US Government detained him for the undeclared bundles of cash he was bringing back to Belize as payment for his role in the passport scandal. Although the US appears to be silent on this matter, trust me my fellow Belizeans, the US is investigating everyone connected to this matter. Can you say ‘Phone and email surveillance’? The NSA is gathering tons of data on all Belizean politicians as we speak…
