Hair braider taken to court after she assaults a cop

Carol Wade

A Belize City hair braider, whom police say assaulted one of their own, was before the court this morning to answer to three criminal offenses.  Forty-three-year-old Carol Wade, of Dolphin Drive in the Faber’s Road area in Belize City, appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano where she was slapped with one count of aggravated assault upon a police officer, one count of using obscene language and one count of resist arrest. It is alleged that on Wednesday, while on North Front Street near the entrance of Majestic Alley, she assaulted police constable Ebelio Itza during the execution of his duties.  Wade was additionally accused of using obscene language in the presence of the officer.  Wade was also charged with resisting arrest after she refused to be detained by PC Itza.  In court, Wade pleaded not guilty to all three charges.  There was no objection to bail which Magistrate Cayetano offered in the sum of one thousand dollars, plus one surety of the same amount.  Wade was able to meet bail by midday.  Carol Wade, who was unrepresented, is set to reappear in court on October sixteenth.
