Update on Belize Teams in International Sport Outings

Aside from the Belize delegation in Suriname that has been making a name for the country in its cultural and artistic form, two junior teams are representing Belize internationally in different sporting disciplines. The National U-fifteen male football team although not medaling in the CONCACAF U-fifteen Championships, made Belize proud when they were acknowledged by CONCACAF for the good behavior of the players and good discipline of the Belize delegation, as well as their outstanding performance on the field. The team has been privileged to a friendly match against Cayman Brac, a small island near the Grand Cayman Islands. The matchup, which will be held on Friday, is being organized by the Minister of Sport of Cayman Islands. The delegation returns on Monday.

Meanwhile, the U-eighteen female national volleyball team is away in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras competing in the Central American Championship. In their first two matches against El Salvador and Honduras; team Belize smashed the competition. But on Wednesday night, they went up against one of the more formidable teams of the bunch, Nicaragua. Team Belize unfortunately lost three sets. But according to a release from the Belize Volleyball Association, the team gets a rest today and returns to the court on Friday against Panama.
