U-15 Footballers win game against Grenada
The national under-fifteen football team has made Belize proud with their performance at the 2013 CONCACAF U-fifteen Championship being held in the Grand Cayman Islands. Last Friday, the team had its first match with St. Lucia where it defeated that team one-nil and then went on to beat Jamaica. On Tuesday night, the young athletes in a bid to medal in the tournament, was matched up against Grenada and had to beat the team by at least eight goals to advance. In a brave and commendable effort, the team won six to one. Unfortunately, Belize’s hope to win and bring back gold, was shattered when Guatemala beat Jamaica in their outing. News Five spoke with Public Relations Officer of the F.F.B., Luis Pena, about the games.
Luis Pena, PR Officer, F.F.B.
“Our boys played Grenada last night. And the game ended in a six to one favor which favored Belize. This was a very good effort by the Belizean U-fifteen selection which tried their best to qualify to the next round. Unfortunately we won, but Jamaica fell to Guatemala and that was what caused us not to advance. We are very proud of this U-fifteen selection. I know the F.F.B. is very proud and Belizeans both home and abroad. As a matter of fact, we had excellent Belizean support in the Grand Cayman. We even had Belizeans who hosted our boys just to show their appreciation for the selection.”

“So what is the next move for the boys? When do they return and what’s next for them in the sport?”
Luis Pena
“Well the selection will be kept together just like the national A selection. We are hoping to get games for them as well. And as you know, the boys will not only remain at the U-fifteen but will also advance by age. The boys like all Belizeans are very happy because they knew that they did their best and did their best on the field of play as well. I mean the scores proved it. This is history in the making for Belize.”
The selection comes in on the one-fifteen American Airlines flight on Monday.
the national A selection should learn from these young ones; and you know why they are successful because they listen and they play for heart and not for a salary……..the system should do everything in their power to keep these boys together and represent overall.
