Ras Dara invites you to annual tribute event this weekend

A tribute to late reggae legend Lucky Dube by philanthropist Dara Robinson, as part of an annual fundraising effort to collect funds and canned goods for his feeding program, was postponed at the end of last month due to eleventh hour changes.  A subsequent date was set for August twenty-fifth at the MCC Tennis Court.  According to the weatherman, clear skies will prevail this weekend and Ras Dara is anticipating a positive turnout.  He dropped by earlier today to invite fans of the fallen musician, as well as supporters of the feeding program to attend the tribute this Sunday.

Dara Robinson, Philanthropist

“If yo into clean, conscious reggae music, Sunday, August twenty-fifth come out to the MCC Tennis Grounds from four p.m. but what I really want to stress on is what is important for the whole thing; I did ask those people who could afford to brign out food stuff. It noh matter if dah can foods, if dah wah pound of ric; if dah potato—anything in food we will accept. Yes we di pay tribute to two reggae legend and tha tdah my style and that dah reggae. We are just charging a small entrance fee of five dollars, but everything goes towards the feeding program. And the food goes a long way because a lot of people benefit from the food weh I give. Yes we di do wah clean reggae show, but I di stress that even those weh noh want be wah part of the show; maybe weh noh into reggae or into weh we di do could pass and the barrel wah deh right by the gate and we wah accept any amount of food. It could be little, it could be plenty; we noh wah refuse no food. And the show fi start four o’clock but we wah deh out dehn from bout two o’clock and people can pass right through till midnight and drop off food. That dah main thing behind everything.”

“And this of course is to aid in the feeding program for children in need who will be attending primary school this semester?”

Dara Robinson

“Yeah I have my kids who will come back to the program and a few others who will get adding in because some graduate. But I wah continue work because on the long stretch dehn things yah dah weh hold up the feeding program because dah through denya finance and food come. And that dah my style and my blessing ah how I get my vision fi do it. So I always stress on that that the food is very important fi bring. And also in supporting the show, you pay your five dollars and the money also go a long way.”
