Motorist gets one year in prison for knocking down a cop

David Carillo

Orange Walk businessman, fifty year old David Carrillo, was sentenced to one year behind bars for the aggravated assault with his vehicle of a cop. The Trial Farm resident today pleaded guilty to running into Police Constable Yann Chin with his vehicle whilst at checkpoint. And tonight, Carrillo is serving his first night of the one year sentence imposed upon him this evening by Magistrate Dale Cayetano. Carrillo in his guilty plea admitted that on Monday, he used his white Grand Marquis vehicle to run into PC Chin who was posted at a checkpoint in Hattieville. PC Chin had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.  The vehicle was pursued by police at the checkpoint which was eventually caught up with by the officers.
