GSU busts north side resident with 85.5 pounds of weed

What does a person do with eighty five and a half pounds of marijuana? Get busted by the police of course. On Friday August sixteenth, 2013 the Gang Suppression Unit searched the upper flat of the Saint Anthony Trading Center building located on Princess Margaret Drive. The building has three flats. The caretaker, forty-four year old Jeremias Pichinte, lives on the second floor. When the officers arrived at the building, Pichinte threw a brown crocus sack and a black plastic bag over the verandah. Cannabis in twelve parcels, totaling fifty two pounds were found inside the bags. On the second flat of the building officers found another crocus sack which was half full with loose cannabis and also contained a black garbage bag with sixty-two small parcels and cannabis weighing thirty-three and a half pounds. Jeremias Pichinte was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply. Pichinte was arraigned in magistrate’s court and he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years confinement plus a fine of ten thousand dollars to be paid by December sixteenth for each count.
