It started with a stolen cow, but ended with pointed gun
Thirty-one year old Jerome Crawford, of Hattieville, is tonight on remand at the Belize Central Prison, following an incident in the village on Wednesday during which he allegedly pulled a firearm on a fellow resident. The confrontation reportedly took place at the home of Edward Arnold, whom the truck driver visited to inquire about payment for a stolen cow. Arnold claims that Crawford wanted him to go to the police station, presumably to record a statement; however, he refused and told Crawford that he was not leaving his home. Arnold said he then picked up a piece of stick and that’s when Crawford apparently produced a point thirty-eight revolver and pointed it in his direction. Fearing for his life, Arnold visited the station and filed a report against Crawford. This morning, Crawford, who appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Dale Cayetano, was read a single charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. He pleaded not guilty to the offense but due to the nature of the crime he was denied bail. Jerome Crawford has been remanded until October fourth.
