Politician’s fight with his wife taken to court
Former P.U.P. standard bearer, fifty-six year old Gilbert Usher Senior, has been in police custody since Monday, following a domestic dispute with his wife during which he allegedly hit her. It is reported that the couple was embroiled in a heated argument sometime around nine o’clock that morning which resulted in fifty-one-year-old Magdalena Usher being beaten by her husband. Usher, who appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stewart this morning, pleaded not guilty to harm and was offered bail in the sum of nine hundred dollars, plus one surety of the same amount. Usher was then ordered to relocate to the home of his daughter on Lizarraga Avenue and he must keep away from the complainant. Additionally, the Belize City businessman was encouraged to enroll in a Batter Intervention Program being offered through the Women’s Department. He is due back in court on September twenty-fifth.
