2 Shot through the window in the Gungulung

A shooting early Sunday morning in the Gungulung area of the Old Capital has left one of two persons hospitalized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.  Eighteen year old Leroy Wasani Fernandez and twenty-five year old Losandri Gonzalez were sleeping inside a house on Holy Emmanuel Street not far from their residence, when a lone gunman pushed his hand through an open louver and fired several shots at them. While a bullet penetrated and exited Gonzalez’s left arm, Fernandez was shot three times: to the left leg and thigh and to the right hand. Both victims were rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. But while Gonzalez was treated and released, Fernandez was admitted in a stable condition. He was to undergo surgery at the K.H.M.H. on Sunday, but he hasn’t and is still in the emergency ward. But for Gonzalez’s Mother, Violet Jones, it is a series on unfortunate events coming her way. First in 2011, it was her son, Matthew Gonzalez, who is presumed dead after he was last spotted on San Pedro; then the shooting of her nephew also in 2011 and over the weekend, her daughter. Jones told News Five that she is being forced to return to her hometown, Dangriga.

Dehn shot mi song, Desmond, couple months after I lose Matthew. Now dah Losandri and Wasani. I noh know what else mi heart could take after this Duane; I don’t know what else. But the best I could do dah go home. I plead to the mayor, I gone dah Mark King; before Cordel mi deh ina power, I gone to Cordel Hyde, I beg that the street push up to over there. Now this dah mi situation…I noh got no way to walk out of the yard. So I noh know what else I can do.”

Violet Jones

“Duane to be honest, I can’t say, I don’t know I noh know. And I can’t say dah what. I just don’t know.”
