Busted marijuana planter says he runs a psychiatric clinic

Owen Baptist

An Isabella self-professed psychiatric clinic caregiver was busted with over five pounds of weed scattered under his home and thirty cannabis plants at his farm in the Belize River Valley area. Owen Baptist was arraigned this morning before Magistrate Leslie Hamilton for Drug Trafficking and Cultivation of a Controlled Drug. Baptist agreed with the statement read to him, but told the magistrate that there is missing information since the police did not disclose what they did with the marijuana plants found at his farm. Baptist pleaded guilty but did not offer a mitigation plea. After the Magistrate explained to him the penalties for drug trafficking and pointed out that Baptist had not given any special reason as why he should not be sent to jail or fined, the magistrate delivered sentencing.  Baptist will be spending six years behind bars and he was additionally fined ten thousand dollars on each count of cultivation. On Wednesday, police searched Baptist’s house and farm at Isabella Bank and found the marijuana.   According to Baptist, he takes care of mentally challenged patients so he considers his farm to be a psychiatric clinic.
