Carnival Road Marchers will party in spite of date clash

Carla Flowers

On Thursday, you heard the private sector express concerns about the upcoming Belize Expo Marketplace which is scheduled to be held on the same day that the equally popular Carnival road march will take place. Both events are planned for September fourteenth and both have huge support. The private sector says it stands to crowd as well as thousands of dollars in investments. Today, News Five spoke to one of the well-known carnival band about how the clash will affect the road march.

Carla Flowers, Organizer, Mother Nature’s Creations

“I don’t really have nothing to say about that…if carnival is on the fourteenth, well it is on the fourteenth.”

Duane Moody

“You are willing to have the dates change because we know that cabinet is having a meeting this Tuesday and they will decide what will happen—whether the dates will change either for carnival or the expo. Do you have a problem with the dates changing?”

Carla Flowers

“No, no, no. I don’t have a problem. Whenever the dates is set that’s the date I am going with.”

Duane Moody

“Are you ready for the carnival this year?”

  1. Out District says:

The September Celebrations Committee has the same disease that many other Belize City based organizations and companies have…. they only think of Belize City and no where else. This is a poor reflection of planning which really, I should not be surprised about seeing the epic fail of December 2012.

The Expo is for businesses and the businesses support carnival. Many attend the expo, not just Belize City residents, but also out district people that come in and try to get a deal, especially on Saturday.
