He’s not a burglar because the door was wide open!

Stephen Slusher

Fifty-three year old Stephen Slusher is tonight serving his first night of a five-year jail term after pleading guilty to burglary.  The resident of Jane Usher Boulevard was accused of entering the home of Maria Manzanero on Central American Boulevard on Wednesday and stealing a twenty-five pound gas tank valued at a hundred and fifteen dollars.  Police investigation into the burglary led to the apprehension of Slusher, who was found in possession Manzanero’s tank.  This morning, he appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Clive Lino.  Slusher was also charged with handling stolen goods but when he pleaded guilty to the burglary, the charge was withdrawn from him.  In mitigation, Slusher told the court that he didn’t burglarize the building because the door was wide open. Magistrate Clive Lino told him that he has no mercy for people who enter another person’s home and deprive them of their belongings because we don’t know how hard they work for their properties. With that, he sentenced the first-time offender to five years imprisonment, effective today.
