PM promises to give Forestry Minister a call about cheap Rosewood sale

Dean Barrow

Two weeks ago, Forestry Minister Lisel Alamilla revealed on national television that G.O.B. sold containers of rosewood to exporters for fifteen thousand dollars. That’s a giveaway, especially since a container of rosewood has a market value of over two hundred thousand dollars. According to Alamilla, she got tired of the back and forth with exporters and came up with that figure. Foreign Minister Wilfred Elrington has said that the price wasn’t discussed in cabinet and today, Prime Minister Dean Barrow also said that he knew nothing about that. And while he has faith in his Minister, he’ll be sure to give her a call to see what’s up with the rosewood cheap-sale.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“The split that was agreed, I believe that the minister and the forestry department had ways of knowing—accessing market value—knowing pretty much what these things would fetch abroad. Unless I hear different from the minister, I would have to think that whatever split she agreed to or the value…the split is one this, but what the value on which you apply that split. I would have to think that she and her department made sure that that was the correct and fair value. If there is evidence to suggest otherwise, I really can’t comment because I don’t know. That is not my ministry; I am not in the rosewood business. I will certainly ask the minister Tuesday in cabinet to ask her what the deal is. But Lisel Alamilla is not somebody who will play the fool, who will play fast. So if something went wrong, we will try and get to the bottom of it. I don’t know that anything went wrong, but I concede that it is within the realm of possibility in terms of what you are saying to me and I will try to inquire into it.”

Mike Rudon

“Well the figure I got to the two hundred and odd thousand is from the forestry department…it is twenty-four dollars per board foot…”

Dean Barrow

“I would really want to check into that. in fact I’ll call the minister this afternoon as I leave here because it is something I would want explained if in fact what you are saying is accurate.”

Alamilla really screwed up not getting Deano his lion’s share of the money.
For him to personally steal, takes up a lot of his valuable time.

But for her to reveal a secret GOB contract, under the bus, road kill for you babe.

In the jungle the lion eats the hyena tonight.
bon appetit. It will taste better & bigger than when the queen ate a rat.

What this stooge judas barrow is saying is hat he has no clue of what his ministers are doing that’s because he has been too busy on his vacations around the world he has had 19. Vacations this year alone who else in the world has it that good I think no one.

Will be interesting to see how he spin this one! Any carpenter any wood carver any lumber yard can calculate the cost of a container of rosewood, and any which way you cut it, 50% will be scandalously higher than 15k. Could it be that the countless millions already made off the stealing of the people’s asset are being used to fund handouts? Payback for campaigning money? The hypocrisy in government has become so vulgar! What happened to all that they purportedly stood for, accountability, good governance? They have become nothing more than that which they so criticized while they were in opposition. How sad that the non political group of 4 brought in to help the pm with special talent in cabinet, has not been able to help slow down the hustling. Have they been compromised by the sweets? Or have they been convinced that the party needs to have a source of funding, and could it be that this is it?

  4. Eye in the Sky says:

The GOB got 15 thousand dollars.

Gapi’s brother got 100 thousand and

    Minster Alamilla got 85 thousand.

There see. Everyone is happy said the PM.
