PM stand by his Deputy Prime Minister on House and lots fiasco

Dean Barrow

And while P.M. Barrow says he didn’t know about the rosewood cheap sale, the PM admits to knowing about the Fresh Pond lots giveaway by his deputy and Minister of Natural Resources, Gaspar Vega. The situation got public attention after C.E.O. in the Ministry of Housing Lawrence Sylvester was escorted out of the Natural Resources building by armed guards. Sylvester was there enquiring about lots with structures on them which were allegedly being handed out to associates of Vega. The C.E.O. told News Five last week that the Ministry of Housing has equity interest in those lots since there are structures on them. The Prime Minister disagrees, and told News Five that the lots are the property of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Vega did absolutely nothing wrong.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I know that my sister was trying to get certainly one property up there for a deserving constituent. It turns out that indeed that property as given to the brother of the driver of the Deputy Prime Minister. I have absolutely no difficulty with that. Clearly the feeling is that it was put in the name of the brother, but that it is really for the driver. As far as I am concerned, the Deputy Prime Minister’s driver is not, by any means, a rich man; deserving of a property. There is I believe or may have been a partial structure on the property. I’m not sure if it a complete house, but those properties there are not in the best of conditions as we all know. I have not a problem with that. I would have liked if somebody from Queen Square would have gotten it. But to me, the Deputy Prime Minister’s driver is as deserving as anybody else. I have also heard of—I don’t know how many properties we are talking about all together—but I’ve heard of other people who are U.D.P. party supporters getting. I’ve heard the name of A.K. Kelly. As far as I know, A.K. is a struggling fellow and completely deserving. So I really don’t know that the Deputy Prime Minister did anything wrong at all. In fact I am prepared to say that in my view he did nothing wrong. I was a little concerned because I did hear that there was an incident involving the C.E.O. from the Ministry of Housing being turned back by an armed guard. When I checked with the C.E.O. in the Ministry of Lands, he said “No; that did not happen.”

And they say thieves have no honor.
When plundering a country, you better have each other’s back to keep the scam rolling.
    else the criminal operation fails.

I guess this judas barrow really believes he can get away with anything he wants how the the leader of a country can be so corrupt and outright thief and supports thieves I guess the belizean public is truly just dumb to let this thief continue to slap them in their faces and say take that I do whey I want when I want but the day is coming when justice will be handed down.

  3. Eye in the Sky says:

Barrow afraid of Gapi. ha ha ha

Gapi has the dirt that can sink Barrows boat.

The deputy PM driver makes more money than 3 average Belizeans do annually and he is still begging for land.

Shame on him. Leave it for the poor.

  4. Citizen says:

This man never know anything, but while he never knows anything between he and deputy, they are raking in the millions to give out goodies come election time. Why do you think he defend the guy so much? He can’t get the whiff or the smell of corruption that way! However for one who never know anything he know much, and have a lot to say about Espat.

  5. Pancho says:

Check out how many lots Juliet get as well! Let them publish the list and watch them scramble to put them in other people’s name! Nepotism king ostrich style!
