Murder case of Jorge Vidal falls apart

The murder case of Jorge Vidal, accused of the December twenty-third, 2005 murder of Hortencio Contreras concluded earlier this week in front of Judge Denis Hanomansingh in the Belmopan Supreme Court.   Vidal was acquitted on a technicality even before a jury could be empanelled to hear the matter. The trial judge raised the question of whether or not Earl Jones, now the C.E.O. of Prison, then a Magistrate at the lower court, signed the committal documents on behalf of deceased Magistrate, Richard Swift.  The judge noted that Jones could not sign committal for the deceased magistrate and he quashed the indictment of Vidal. Swift died back in 2007; he was dealing with the case of Vidal when it came to preliminary inquiry and its committal to the Supreme Court.  Earl Jones took over at the Magistrate’s Court level in 2008 and it is alleged he signed on behalf of Swift. Vidal was accused of beating Contreras to death. A post mortem certified that Contreras died from concussion to the head and abdominal trauma from an alleged kick. He was killed after he left a party in Benque Viejo del Carmen.

Let’s make it easy for GOB to have a criminal justice system.

Legalize murder and violent crimes. They can’t make the cases, why bother? Citizens are too cowardly to testify, the police can’t protect the witnesses, it just cost too much, not enough money can be made off it by insiders.

Instead make homos a capital offense, and weed possession heavily fined. That way beating up or killing homos is good for Belize, the home videos will be hilarious and world famous fun; the churches can get behind this.

Weed possession, like bullets, are easy plants by the police or by enemies looking to take out a neighbor. The amount of money can keep Deano and crew wealthy and happy.

    So true….
Like these family never gets justice for their lost loved ones. Lives are cheap in Belize, they, kill, they spend 9-10moths, they’re acquitted on some sort of stupid technicality!
What a way to run the country, not that i’b be able to do any better, but we prefer if you would look out FOR THE PEOPLE.
