While Jorge Vidal is a freeman, in the Northern Session of the Supreme Court, before Justice Herbert Lord, a teenager who was accused at the age of sixteen of a murder, saw the charge reduced to manslaughter. Tonight, Shawn Locke who is now twenty is serving his first night of an eighteen year old jail term which has been reduced to fifteen since he has already spent three years before bars. Locke was initially charged with the murder of Edgar Monteagudo on April seventeenth, 2010 in the village of San Joaquin.   On Thursday, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of Manslaughter.  In mitigation, his attorney, called four character witnesses to speak on his behalf including his mother. When Locke took the stand he expressed remorse also telling the court that he was involved in prison programs.  The judge took into account these factors and handed down an eighteen year prison term.  On the night of the murder, Locke was involved in a fight with two men when he pulled out a knife and stabbed Monteagudo, but the nephew of the deceased lived to tell the tale.  During the trial, Locke was represented by attorney, Marcel Cardona.
