Goalie, Woodrow West yelled stick to the plan

Woodrow West

Coach Ian Mork did not make it back…it is not because he is leaving the team, but because he stayed in the U.S. to deal with personal matters relating to his family. The players, however, were glad to be home today, but the lingering blues from Tuesday’s game against Cuba were evident. If you were like thousands of other Belizeans, who were glued to the match, you probably got an eyeful of an irate Woodrow West screaming at his defensive line every time Cuba got a clear shot at goal. Today at the P.G.I.A., West says he was forced to do that because the team wasn’t sticking to the game plan.

Woodrow West – Goalkeeper, Team Belize

“We had a plan and the guys were saying a lot of positive things that we were going to do on the field and at the end of the day they didn’t pull it off like they said. It discouraged me a lot because we didn’t pull off the job that the coach wanted us to do. The guys just need to keep focused; it was three games and it boiled down to one game to win and to qualify and these guys loosed focus at the end and cost us that three points. It boils down to you personally as a footballer here in Belize; you don’t have the professional treatment that you need but you personally could treat yourself a professional; try to get the proper work out and upgrade your body to the highest fitness level possible. If we do that everybody on the team do that personally then we could go out there and always compete against these guys one hundred percent.”
