Coach Mork talks about possible advancement in football
Following Saturday’s heartbreaking defeat to Costa Rica, coaches and players of the Belize National Football Selection, discussed the painful one to nothing loss. The winning auto-goal was a mistake that will certainly be recorded in the chronicles of Belize’s sports history; one the team is expecting to put behind it in an attempt to advance to a second round of competition in Gold Cup 2013. Coach Ian Mork discussed Game Two in a post-game wrap-up on Saturday, during which he also spoke about the possibility of Belize qualifying for round two.

“It was tough lost, but at the same time, we were right there in the game up to the final moments. As a team we were very disappointed, but at the same time, we also felt better about our performance. We realized that we still have some things we can improve on also. We mentally are pretty stronger now. Mentally we are pretty strong. And I think we are in a good situation for the game tomorrow.”
“I think that we have not been creating enough opportunities for us to get the chance to score the goals, but it is something that we are working on. It has me anxious in a way because I’m already used to scoring in any major tournament that I go into. I just think we need to create more opportunities and we can go from there. I think that we can’t take any team likely; we have to respect them because they have been struggling just like us for the past two games that they have played. I think that they are a good team, but we just have to play our game and play with the confidence that we need and the strategy that the coach wants us to play and we will be fine.”

“We feel that the momentum after the last game and where Woodrow is at, there is no need to change. So we will just go game by game and initially start with the rotation and see where we are at. I mean both of these keepers are at an amazing level in the tournament. We have confidence in both of them and we right now we feel that Woodrow will fit in well with this next match and that is what we’ve gone with.”
