Jaguars give condolences to Daniel Jimenez on passing of mother

Deon McCauley

A funeral service was held this afternoon in San Ignacio for Theresita Jimenez, the mother of star forward Daniel Jimenez, who had to return from the United States on Friday to be with his ailing parent.  Jimenez suffered a stroke prior to her son’s departure to Portland, Oregon the week before the regional CONCACAF competition commenced.  She passed away over the weekend.  Today, members of the Belize Jaguars offered words of condolences to the Jimenez family.

Deon McCauley, Striker, Belize Jaguars

“Well we go into every game thinking about Danny and his family and we want to send condolences to them. And we try our best to win for danny because he is a part of our team and he is very important even though he is not ehre. But I think that we’ll do it for him tomorrow.”

Woodrow West, Goalkeeper, Belize Jaguars

“He’s part of us; we are a family and we try to do our best and work together. And we feel the same pain as he is feeling right now and we are playing our hearts out for him.”

Ian Mork

Ian Mork, Head Coach, Belize Jaguars

“Unfortunately, Danny is at his mother’s funeral today, so we are just trying to send our well-wishes to his family. So he is not going to be able to join us at this game tomorrow. The confidence of the group is very high and the group’s really united right now and motivated for this match. We also expect to have a very organized group. But the confidence is that we are ready.”

I am sad for this young man who lost his mother. My condolences to him and his family. I am so glad that he made the decision to come home and see his mother, this game will be there, he had one mother. Those who criticized him should be ashamed. We need more young people who has the right priority and value family, if they did, there may not be these senseless murders. Proud of you young man.

I want to offer my condolences to Daniel Jimenez on the passing of his mother. Losing a parent is one of the most difficult experiences one must face in life.
