Corozal Man missing after boat capsizes

Tonight a massive search effort is underway in the waters off Ambergris Caye after a fisherman went missing when his boat capsized. At around ten a.m. Sunday morning, Sarteneja fisherman Edwardo Dominguez was on a twenty-three foot sailboat with another man when the vessel capsized. They were headed to the Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve off North Ambergris Caye. The man with Dominguez, referred to only as Barajona, managed to swim to shore but Dominguez did not make it. The incident was immediately reported to the Coast Guard on Sunday and they immediately launched a search and rescue operation. The boat, named Elena was located but there was no sign of Dominguez. The Coast Guard has been joined by residents of Sarteneja and San Pedro Town as the search continues.
