F.F.B. President says Jaguars are ready

Ruperto Vicente

There are many external issues that could affect the confidence of the team. Once inside the soccer pitch, the Jaguars will have to leave all those issues behind. The F.F.B. president has returned to the Jewel and he will not be with the Jaguars.  However, Ruperto Vicente believes that the performance of the players will significantly improve.

Via Phone: Ruperto Vicente, President, F.F.B.

“The anticipation is that our players will do their utmost best to do better in this game even though they played their hearts out on Tuesday and they were not successful against United States. We are hoping that our team will do a lot better against Costa Rica this Saturday. The young men are committed to doing better because they are of the opinion and they themselves have expressed that they have failed the Belizean people. But they did not fail. It is in my opinion that our players played the game, they did well against a giant of a team. But they promise to do better against Costa Rica and against Cuba.”

Has Mr. Vicente ever considered the fact that he is the problem for the Jaguars poor showing at the Gold Cup?

Will they “humiliate” Costa Rica and Cuba as well??? Ruperto Vicente, you embarrass the whole country. And I hope that the Jaguars don’t state that someone tried to bribe them again!! And someone please tell Deon McCauley that he is no longer the MVP of the team and he is not a super star!!

I’m tired of reading and listening to all the crap of the blame game. I think the Belizean public has unrealistic expectations of the team. Have we forgot these are amateur players playing against professionals. We got lucky in the UNCAF tournament ,and more over those teams had their “B” teams in that tournament, and we had excellent goal keeping that help us. Our limitations are clearly expose ,now that we are in an advance tournament with better teams. A coach can only do so much with the material he has. If you notice the Belize players can barely hold the ball for any time because of a lack of technical skills. Look at the true professionals the style and grace with regards on how they move and handle the ball. If you want to create higher expectations ,then the country needs to invest in youth programs to develop players with proper coaching to play at that level. You can’t make adults into professionals. You develop youths to achieve that, like other countries do. It’s always a case of money, there are smaller countries do well and so can Belize. The problem has always been too many shady people running things.
