McKoy detained for ride-by attempted murder
On Tuesday night, eighteen-year-old Everal Cardinez was shot while riding a bicycle along Jones Street. The Hattieville resident was in the company of a friend when they were accosted by a trio of men, one of whom produced a handgun and opened fire. Cardinez was injured on the left arm and left side of his body. Following the incident, Belize City police detained five men. In court this morning, twenty-one year old Diondre McKoy was arraigned on three counts, including attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. Since the offenses are being dealt with on indictment, no plea was taken from him. McKoy was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August nineteenth when he is scheduled to return to court.
